The Rough Hill Band was formed in Manchester about 10 years ago and are widely regarded as one of the best funk/ soul bands in the country. Their repertoire of songs is incredible and the quality of the musicians is outstanding.
The lead singer, Jennie Sawdon has an incredible vocal talent and has performed all over the UK, most notably the Albert Hall; Saxophonist Kenji Fenton has recently graduated with top honours from the Royal Northern College of Music; Pianist/keyboard player Roger Hughes has played with legends such as BB King, Squeeze and Living Colour and incredible guitarist Johnny Heyes regularly performs with the Dennis Rollin’s Badbone & Co, Snake Davis and Hamish Stuart. The band also regularly includes top UK Session players such as Jasper Wilkinson, Greg Morgan and Bryan Hargreaves.
With influences such as Sister Sledge, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Gwen McRae, the band have played for Trevor Nelson in Hammersmith and have gigged for celebrities all over the UK, most notably Wayne Rooney's 18th Birthday.
